Conference
T-Shirts - Order Your's Now!
PNWVHFS
Conference T-Shirts are now available for pre-order.
Our vendor
has worked up a nice logo for the Bend conference - see it at:
http://www.n7cfo.com/temp/blue.jpg
The background color
will be a washed blue - the color in the graphic is
close, but not exact.
The cost of the shirts
is $13, if they are picked up at the conference or
at the Poodle Dog after the conference. Postage rates have gone
up a lot in
the last year, so the price of a shirt shipped Priority Mail is
$18.00,
and $18.00 to Canada by first class mail. If you want more than
one shirt
please let me know and I will attempt to figure the postage before
you
send a check.
If you want a shirt,
please let me know by return email. I need the
following:
1) Full name
2) Call (for record keeping purposes only, call not printed on
shirt)
3) Size. (S, M, L, XL, XXL or XXXL)
4) Quantity
5) Where you will pick it up or an address to mail it to.
The next step is an important
one - send me a check immediately! Make the
check payable to "PNWVHFS" and send it to:
Lynn Burlingame
15621 SE 26th Street
Bellevue, WA 98008
We need pre-payment for
the shirts - this greatly simplifies the bookwork
and distribution. Please help me out on this - it takes a lot of
time to
follow up with people that order shirts and then don't follow through
with
payment!
We will have a small
quantity of shirts available for sale at the conference, but we
cannot guarantee sizes or quantity, so you best bet is to order
in advance.

VA7SIX/B
QSY
FYI
- the VA7SIX two meter beacon that used to be on 144.282 has now
been moved to 144.275. This is a clear freq away from other west
coast beacons and should aid most of us in being able to listen
for beacons to the south and vice versa, in particular the KJ6KO
beacon, and those in CA to listen for the SIX beacon.
Thanks to Scott VE7VDX and Len WA6KLK in helping with this situation.

N7AM
- SK

I am sad
to report the passing of Jack Riggs, N7AM of Bremerton, WA, on Saturday
morning. Jack was a long-time ham, first licensed in the 1930s.
Over the years Jack had done just about everything possible in the
world of ham radio including DXing, traffic and emergency communications,
mobile, club and field day activities, and more recently satellite
and EME. Many will know of his activities in recent years
building and operating his 30-foot dish on 1296 EME. He attended
the PNWVHF Society meeting in Bellingham just 2 weeks ago.
He was the most enthusiastic person I ever knew, and never let anything
discourage him regardless of difficulty or setbacks. He served
as an inspiration to us all.
Jack had been battling
congestive heart failure for several years and had his ups and downs
in the past, but with his determination always managed to bounce
back. Unfortunately this time he was unable to recover from
a serious arrhythmia condition that intensified during the last
week. I am sure Jack will be deeply missed by all of us who
knew him. He was 85.
